Nepalganj Airport (KEP), founded in the 1960s, is a compact regional airport with a single terminal that punches above its weight as a primary gateway to Nepal’s Mid‑ and Far‑West districts and nearby Himalayan airstrips. Important for travelers heading to Bardia National Park and remote mountain communities, the airport offers regular domestic services to Kathmandu and other regional destinations and acts as a regional base for domestic carriers such as Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines and Shree Airlines. Easily reached by road from Nepalgunj city with local buses and taxis and seasonal cross‑border road links into India, it’s generally considered affordable for domestic travel though prices can rise during peak season.
