Ndjamena Airport

N'Djamena International Airport (NDJ), also known as Hassan Djamous Airport, opened in the mid-20th century and remains Chad’s primary international gateway with one main passenger terminal and a smaller domestic/charter facility. As the country’s largest airport it handles international, regional and UN/military traffic and is crucial for travel across Central Africa. Located just a short drive from downtown N'Djamena, the airport is accessible by taxis, shared minibuses and private transfers, though public transit is limited. Terminal fees and on-site services are generally affordable, but airfares can be higher due to limited competition; it serves as a base for national carriers such as Tchadia Airlines and smaller regional operators.
