Nauru International Airport (IATA: INU) opened during the 1940s (WWII-era) and remains the tiny Pacific nation's sole international gateway, with a single small terminal and one runway handling turboprops and occasional jet services. Located in the Yaren district just a short taxi ride from government offices and coastal settlements—there is no regular public bus service, only taxis and occasional hotel shuttles—the airport provides limited but vital connections to regional hubs such as Nadi (Fiji), Brisbane (Australia) and other Pacific islands. Nauru Airlines is based here, operating the bulk of scheduled services. Because of the island’s isolation and limited competition, flights to and from INU are typically infrequent and relatively expensive for travelers.
