Mogadishu International Airport

Mogadishu International Airport, also known locally as Aden Adde Airport, dates back to the 1930s and is the primary international gateway for Somalia, handling both civilian and humanitarian traffic. The compact facility operates from one main terminal with distinct domestic and international sections and serves as the country’s busiest airfield. Located roughly 5–7 km from downtown Mogadishu, it’s reachable by taxi, private shuttle and road links—public transport is limited and security checks are common. The airport is a base for Somali carriers such as Jubba Airways and Daallo and historically for Somali Airlines; fares can be higher than other East African hubs due to limited competition, though short regional flights may be more affordable.
