Mbuji-Mayi Airport (MJM), serving the diamond-rich capital of Kasai-Oriental, opened in the mid-20th century and operates from a single modest terminal, handling mainly domestic traffic and regional charters. As a small but important gateway for business and mining travel, the airport links Mbuji-Mayi to Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and other Congolese cities via Congo Airways and regional carriers such as Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation. Ground access is straightforward—taxis and shared minibuses provide frequent short rides to the city center—making it convenient for travelers.
