Mandurriao Airport opened in the 1930s (around 1937) as Iloilo’s compact city airport and operated with a single terminal, serving as the primary domestic gateway for Iloilo City and Western Visayas until commercial flights moved to Iloilo International Airport in 2007. Located in the Mandurriao district just minutes from the city center, it was easily reached by taxis, jeepneys and city buses and popular for short, budget-friendly domestic routes. Historically it handled regional services for carriers such as Philippine Airlines, PAL Express and Cebu Pacific. Today the former airfield has been redeveloped, but Mandurriao remains a notable part of Iloilo’s aviation history.
