Malta International Airport

Malta International Airport (MLA), opened in 1992 and located in Luqa just a short drive from Valletta, is the island’s primary gateway with one main passenger terminal (two departure concourses) serving a busy mix of scheduled, seasonal and charter flights. As Malta’s largest airport it’s a medium-sized hub important for tourism and business travel, offering regular public bus services, taxis and car hire with easy transfers to ferry ports for Gozo and fast links to main coastal towns. Generally traveler-friendly and relatively affordable thanks to many low-cost carriers, MLA is the home hub of Air Malta and an important base for Ryanair and other budget airlines.
