Mae Sot Airport

Mae Sot Airport (MAQ), originally established as a small airstrip in the 1940s and upgraded for civilian use in later decades, is a compact regional airport serving Mae Sot in Tak Province with a single terminal and a handful of daily domestic flights. Important for cross-border trade with nearby Myanmar, it’s roughly a 10–20 minute drive from the town center and is well connected by taxis, songthaews and private transfers to the border and regional roads. Popular with budget travelers, fares tend to be affordable compared with Thailand’s major hubs, and regional carriers such as Nok Air and Thai AirAsia have historically served the airport; it is not a major airline hub.
