David the Builder Kutaisi International Airport, which reopened to international traffic in 2012 after Soviet-era origins, is a compact regional gateway with a single modern terminal serving western Georgia. As the country’s second major airport, it’s an important low-cost hub linking Kutaisi and nearby resort areas to Europe. The airport sits roughly 15 km from Kutaisi city center (about a 20–30 minute drive) and is served by shuttle buses, marshrutkas, taxis and car hire with coach links to larger cities. Popular with budget travelers, Kutaisi is generally affordable thanks to low-cost carriers, and hosts significant Wizz Air operations alongside Georgian Airways services.
