Kivalina Airport

Kivalina Airport is a small state-owned public-use airstrip serving the remote Inupiat village of Kivalina, Alaska, established in the mid-20th century and featuring a single compact terminal area and a gravel runway. As the community’s primary link to the outside world, this tiny regional airport handles essential passenger flights, mail and medevac services rather than heavy commercial traffic, with connections by small regional carriers to larger hubs such as Kotzebue and Nome. With no road access to the mainland, travel is largely by air or seasonal boat, and fares tend to be higher than average because of limited frequency and remote-location costs.
