Kiunga Airport (UNG) in Papua New Guinea’s Western Province opened in the mid-20th century and today operates from a single small terminal, serving as a compact regional gateway to the Fly River and nearby mining communities. Though modest in size, it’s an important link for locals and tourists connecting Kiunga town to larger hubs; scheduled services link to Port Moresby and nearby regional centers while road and river connections (including the Kiunga-Tabubil road and Fly River boats) provide onward access. PNG Air and Air Niugini operate scheduled flights, with charter operators such as Hevilift and local carriers available for special trips; fares are generally affordable on scheduled services but can rise for charters and peak periods.
