King Abdulaziz International Airport (IATA: JED) opened in 1981 and serves as Jeddah’s main international gateway, featuring about three passenger terminals plus the dedicated Hajj Terminal for pilgrims and a modern new terminal opened in recent years. As one of Saudi Arabia’s busiest airports, JED is a major hub for Saudia and a base for low-cost carriers like flynas and flyadeal, offering frequent connections across the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Located roughly 20 km north of central Jeddah, the airport is reachable by taxis, car rental and airport shuttles and sits within easy road reach of Mecca; fares and flights are often competitively priced thanks to strong carrier competition.
