Kangerlussuaq Airport

Kangerlussuaq Airport opened in 1941 as a strategic airfield and today operates from a compact single-terminal facility, making it one of Greenland’s most important gateways. With one of the island’s longest runways it handles international connections and serves as a primary hub for Air Greenland, with seasonal services from European carriers. Located a short shuttle or taxi ride from the tiny settlement of Kangerlussuaq, it offers straightforward access to western Greenland though there are no road links to other towns—domestic flights and charters are the norm. Because many international routes funnel through SFJ, it’s often the most affordable entry point for flights to Greenland.
