Kakamega Airport

Kakamega Airport (IATA: GGM) is a small regional airstrip established in the late 20th century with a single modest terminal and one runway, serving Kakamega town and Western Kenya. Though compact, the airport is important for local travel and access to attractions like the Kakamega Forest, linking the county to Kenya’s domestic network. It’s a short drive from Kakamega town with regular matatu and taxi connections and road links to Kisumu and Eldoret for onward travel. Not a hub for major carriers, GGM is mainly used by charter and regional operators; fares are generally affordable but schedules are limited, so booking ahead is advised.
