Hawkes Bay Airport

Hawke’s Bay Airport (NPE), serving Napier and the Hawke’s Bay wine region, opened in the 1930s and operates from a single compact terminal that handles mainly domestic traffic; it’s the region’s primary gateway for visitors to Napier’s Art Deco coast and nearby vineyards. The airport is small but important for local travel, about a 10–20 minute drive from Napier and readily reached by taxis, shuttle services, rental cars and limited local buses, with easy road links to Hastings. NPE is generally considered affordable for domestic travelers, serviced mainly by Air New Zealand’s regional flights and occasional low-cost carriers rather than functioning as a major hub.
