Harare’s main airport, originally opened in the mid-1950s and renamed Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in 2017, is Zimbabwe’s primary international gateway with one main passenger terminal handling both domestic and regional flights. Medium-sized but strategically important, it serves the capital and links Harare to southern and central Africa. The airport sits roughly 12–15 km southeast of the city centre and is easily reached by taxis, shuttles, car hire and the main A-road, though there’s no dedicated rail link. Generally affordable for regional travelers, on-site prices can be higher; it functions as a hub for Air Zimbabwe and a base for several regional carriers.
