Gen Mariano Escobedo Airport

Gen Mariano Escobedo Airport (MTY), serving Monterrey and the industrial heart of Nuevo León, opened in 1979 and operates with two main passenger terminals handling domestic and international traffic; it’s one of Mexico’s busiest regional gateways and a key hub for business and cargo travel. Located about 20–30 km northeast of downtown Monterrey in Apodaca, the airport is well connected by highways, airport shuttles, regional buses, taxis and car rental services for easy access to nearby industrial parks and city neighborhoods. With a strong presence of low-cost carriers, MTY is generally affordable for travelers and serves as a principal base for VivaAerobus while also acting as a major focus city for Aeroméxico and Volaris.
