Gaya Airport

Gaya Airport (IATA: GAY) is a small but strategically important airport serving Gaya and the nearby Buddhist pilgrimage site of Bodh Gaya; the airfield dates back to the 1960s and was granted international status in 2006 to handle charter and religious traffic. The airport operates from a single passenger terminal and handles modest domestic and occasional international flights, making it one of Bihar’s smaller commercial gateways. It’s about 10–15 km from Gaya city and roughly 12 km from Bodh Gaya, with taxis, auto-rickshaws, buses and Gaya Junction railway links for onward connections. Generally budget-friendly thanks to low-cost carriers, it is served regularly by IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India rather than operating as a major airline hub.
