Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), opened in 1929, serves Broward County as a medium-large international gateway with four terminals handling domestic and Caribbean/Latin America traffic; it’s a key jump-off point for Port Everglades cruises and nearby beaches. About 3 miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale and roughly 25–30 miles from Miami, FLL is well connected by Tri-Rail (via shuttle), Broward County Transit buses, taxis, rideshares and car rental centers, making onward travel easy. Generally more budget-friendly than nearby Miami International, FLL is a base/hub for Spirit Airlines and a focus city for JetBlue, offering many low-cost flight options.
