Edmonton International Airport (YEG), opened in 1960 and located about 26 km south of downtown Edmonton in Leduc County, is Alberta’s major international gateway with a single modern terminal featuring two main concourses. As a mid-to-large sized airport serving domestic, transborder and international routes, YEG is important for business travel tied to Alberta’s energy sector and growing leisure traffic. Ground links include regional coach and shuttle services, local transit connections via Century Park LRT links, taxis and rideshares for easy access to the city. Generally considered reasonably affordable—especially with low-cost carriers—YEG is a base for Flair Airlines and a focus city for WestJet and Air Canada.
