Dunedin International Airport, opened in 1962, sits at Momona on the Taieri Plains and operates from a single terminal handling both domestic and occasional international services. As Otago’s main air gateway it’s a compact, easy-to-navigate regional airport linking Dunedin and nearby towns with regular flights to Wellington, Christchurch and seasonal services to Australia. The airport is about 20–25 minutes’ drive from Dunedin city centre and is served by taxis, rental cars, airport shuttles and limited public coach/bus connections for budget-conscious travelers. Generally affordable compared with larger New Zealand airports, it’s a regional base for Air New Zealand and is frequently served by Jetstar and smaller carriers.
