Dublin Airport (DUB), opened in 1940 on the Collinstown site, is Ireland’s busiest international gateway with two main passenger terminals and a large mix of short- and long-haul routes. Situated about 10 km north of Dublin city centre, it offers frequent bus and coach links (Airlink 747/757, Aircoach and Dublin Bus services), plentiful taxis and car hire, but no direct rail link yet — a MetroLink is planned. Home to Aer Lingus as a hub and a large base for Ryanair, Dublin Airport is a major hub for transatlantic and European travel; fares are often affordable thanks to low-cost carriers, though on-site services and parking can be pricey.
