Chita Airport (HTA), often called Chita–Kadala, opened in the 1930s and operates from a single small passenger terminal serving the Trans‑Baikal region. As the main airport for Chita, it’s a regional hub for domestic travel and a gateway to the Trans‑Siberian Railway and surrounding nature reserves. Located roughly 15–20 km from downtown Chita, the airport is reached by road via taxis, car rental and seasonal shuttle buses with connections timed to flights. Routes are primarily domestic and typically affordable compared with larger Russian airports; carriers include Aeroflot, S7 and several regional airlines, with IrAero and other local operators maintaining regular presence.
