Catamarca Airport, serving San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, opened in the early 1970s and operates from a single small passenger terminal that handles mainly domestic traffic; it’s the primary gateway to Catamarca province and a convenient base for exploring the nearby Andes and national parks. The airport is compact but well connected—about 8 km from the city center with taxis, limited shuttle buses and car-rental options providing easy access. Generally more affordable than Argentina’s major international hubs, Catamarca sees regular services from Aerolíneas Argentinas and occasional routes by low-cost carriers, though it is not a major airline hub.
