Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), opened in 2020, is the modern international gateway for the Berlin‑Brandenburg region with two main terminals plus a former Schönefeld site often referred to as Terminal 5. As Germany’s primary airport for the capital, BER handles a large mix of international and low‑cost traffic and serves as an important north‑eastern European hub. Ground links are strong — direct regional and long‑distance trains (including the FEX), S‑Bahn lines, express buses and the A113 motorway put central Berlin roughly 25–35 minutes away. Fares are generally competitive thanks to many low‑cost carriers; easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Eurowings maintain bases while Lufthansa and other flag carriers operate major routes.
