Bourgas Airport (BOJ), often called Burgas Airport, opened in 1937 and today operates from one main passenger terminal, serving as Bulgaria’s second-busiest gateway to the Black Sea. Compact but pivotal for summer tourism, BOJ connects international low-cost and charter flights to resort hubs like Sunny Beach and historic Nessebar, while also handling regular domestic service to Sofia. Located about 10 km from Burgas city and well linked by shuttle buses, regional coaches, taxis and car rentals, the airport is easy to reach for beach-bound travelers. Generally affordable thanks to seasonal low-cost and charter options, it hosts carriers such as Bulgaria Air and frequent seasonal operations from Wizz Air, Ryanair and various charter operators.
