Biratnagar Airport

Biratnagar Airport (BIR), opened in the late 1950s, is a small but busy regional airport serving Nepal’s industrial hub of Biratnagar and the Koshi Province with one main terminal and a single runway handling turboprop aircraft. As an important domestic gateway near the Indian border (Jogbani), it’s just a short drive from Biratnagar city center with easy access by taxi, local buses and private cars rather than rail. Regular services by carriers such as Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines and Nepal Airlines link BIR to Kathmandu and other domestic destinations; fares are generally affordable for short domestic hops, though prices can rise during peak seasons.
