Beijing Capital International Airport, opened in 1958, is a major international gateway with three passenger terminals (T1–T3) and one of China’s largest and busiest airports, especially known for its vast Terminal 3 added for the 2008 Olympics. The airport is a primary hub for Air China and an important base for several Chinese carriers, handling extensive domestic and international routes. Travelers can reach downtown Beijing via the Airport Express subway line, frequent airport shuttle buses, highways and taxis, with onward connections to regional rail and long‑distance coaches. Terminal amenities tend to be moderately priced but can feel expensive compared with the city, so expect a mix of budget and premium options.
