Banak Airport

Banak Airport in Lakselv opened in the early 1960s (1963) and is a small but strategically important regional airport in Finnmark, serving northern Norway and nearby Arctic communities. The single-terminal facility handles modest passenger volumes and doubles as a military air station, making it vital for both civilian and defense connections. Located about 14 km from Lakselv town centre, the airport is accessible by car via the E6 and by regional coach services linking to Alta, Karasjok and Nordkapp, with rental cars available on-site. Flights are generally mid-priced — domestic routes can be affordable but limited competition sometimes raises fares — and Widerøe operates the bulk of scheduled services, with seasonal connections from larger carriers.
