Atyrau Airport

Atyrau Airport, opened in the mid-20th century, is a compact regional airport with a single passenger terminal that punches above its weight thanks to its role serving Kazakhstan’s oil-rich Caspian region. Located roughly 8–10 km from Atyrau city centre, it’s easy to reach by taxi, car hire or local shuttle services and offers frequent domestic connections to Almaty and Nur-Sultan as well as select international routes to Russia and nearby countries. Not a major international hub, it acts as a practical base for regional carriers (including regular services from Air Astana, SCAT and Qazaq Air) and is generally considered affordable for travelers seeking competitive domestic fares.
