Alexandria International Airport

Alexandria International Airport opened as England Air Force Base in 1942 and was converted to a civilian airport in the early 1990s; today its single terminal handles modest regional traffic and serves as the primary gateway for central Louisiana, including Alexandria and nearby Pineville. The airport is compact but important locally, about a 10-mile drive from downtown via U.S. routes and well connected by rental cars, taxis and rideshares with limited public-bus service and occasional shuttle options.
