Yakushima Airport

Yakushima Airport opened in the 1960s and today operates a single compact terminal that handles regional domestic flights to Kagoshima and other mainland hubs; it’s the main air gateway to Yakushima’s UNESCO cedar forests and a small but important island airport. Located within easy taxi or local bus reach of Miyanoura and Anbō ports, the airport links seamlessly with ferries for alternate sea access and with onward flights to Kagoshima, often via Japan Air Commuter and JAL/ANA services. Fares can be higher than mainland routes because of the island location, though seasonal sales and regional carriers make finds possible.
