Sigiriya Slaf Base

Sigiriya SLAF Base, established in the mid-20th century, is a compact military airfield with a single small terminal that serves Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle rather than large-scale passenger traffic. Though modest in size, it’s strategically important for military operations and occasional charter flights, offering quick access to Sigiriya Rock, Dambulla and Habarana by taxi or private transfer; public buses are limited. Because it isn’t a commercial airline hub—operated primarily by the Sri Lanka Air Force—regular scheduled services are rare and charters can be pricier, while ground costs around the area remain generally budget-friendly for travelers.
