Janakpur Airport

Janakpur Airport, opened in the 1960s, is a small domestic airport with a single terminal serving Janakpur Dham and the surrounding Dhanusha district. As an important regional gateway for pilgrims visiting the Janaki Temple and for travelers connecting to Kathmandu, it handles modest traffic with short-haul routes to Nepal’s main cities. The airport is easily reached by a brief taxi or local-bus ride from central Janakpur and is linked by road to nearby towns, making onward travel simple. Generally considered budget-friendly for domestic travel—so cheap flights on short routes are common—Janakpur is served by Nepal’s domestic carriers including Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines and Nepal Airlines, though it is not a major hub.
