Chapelco Airport, the gateway to San Martín de los Andes and Argentina’s Andean Lake District, opened in the mid-20th century and operates from a single small terminal that handles regional and seasonal traffic. Nestled near the Chapelco ski resort and Lanín National Park, the airport is compact but important for tourism, with frequent road links—shuttle buses, taxis and car rentals—connecting travelers roughly 20–30 km to the town center. Fares are generally moderate but can spike during winter ski season; there’s no major hub here, though Aerolíneas Argentinas and seasonal low-cost carriers regularly serve the airport.
