Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD), opened in 1931, is Spain’s largest airport with four main terminals plus the T4 satellite terminal, serving as Madrid’s primary international gateway and a major European hub. The sprawling airport handles high-frequency domestic routes, European connections and long‑haul services and is the principal hub for Iberia and a major base for Air Europa and Iberia Express, alongside many low‑cost carriers. Well connected to the city by Metro Line 8, Cercanías trains at T4, a 24‑hour airport express bus, long‑distance coaches and taxis, it’s easy to reach central Madrid. Fares are often competitive thanks to heavy airline competition, though on‑site services and parking tend to be mid‑to‑high priced.
